From the 1st July 2021 buyers of brand new car or second hand cars in South Africa can take their cars to any of the service centres of their choice.
Competition Committee South Africa amended the Competition Act to incorporate such changes in the motor industry.
Under such newly introduced law, cars dealerships are required to support such independent service centers with technical information and training thereof.
Historical disadvantage individuals are said to be prioritized by the OEM.
Committee mentioned that cars manufacturers must not hinder a consumers choice to do maintenance and service of their cars at the service centres of their choice.
Car dealerships in South Africa are not happy about these laws.
